Infertility Steps
At least a 3-month investment before IVF is required to work with Dr. Pourhassani, DACM, LAc.
Step 1: Comprehensive Review (infertility, medical and lifestyle are evaluated)
When you come in for an infertility consultation, we start with a thorough review to understand your unique situation. This includes looking at any past infertility tests you’ve had, evaluating treatments, and reviewing the medical history of both partners separately. We’ll also review your lifestyle habits to assess if there are any opportunities to enhance your physical and mental health, Additionally, we assess how well your body is functioning overall to get a complete picture of your health.
Step 2: Personalized Recommendations for the couple
Once all this information is gathered, we provide personalized recommendations typically based on medical necessity, ASRM ethics committee recommendations, and almost 20 years of miraculous outcomes which have led to parenthood. This may include referring you to a specialist, ordering new lab tests, patient education, and recommendations on the options available. Alas, we cannot help everyone with every infertility diagnosis have a biological baby.
Step 3: Treatment Planning
If you are considered an appropriate candidate for treatment, we will discuss and advise you on the best treatment options within the doctor’s scope of practice.
Step 4
IVF-Specific Step 1: Review and Monitoring
Treatments will be recommended based on your previous IVF treatment records will be carefully reviewed to understand your history and previous responses.
IVF-Specific Step 2:
During your current IVF treatment, I will need to closely monitor your lab results and ultrasound findings. This allows me to adjust your acupuncture treatment to alter outcomes.
IVF-Specific-Step 3:
Preparing for an embryo transfer.
These are proprietary protocols developed by the reproductive acupuncturist Dr. Pourhassani which are not published at this time.
IVF-Specific Failures:
There are many reasons why IVF cycles may not succeed. These reasons can vary and may include issues with the quality of the eggs, sperm, or embryos, or problems uterine lining (lack of trilaminar lining, thin uterine lining), or recurrent implantation.
When cycles fail, patients are not offered alternatives which have adequate outcomes per case series or reports which warrant publication and research.
Instead, patients are counseled to discontinue IVF treatment altogether, accepting the possibility of not having a biological child. Others are offered the alternative; consider purchasing expensive donor eggs or sperm.
In some cases, patients continue with additional IVF cycles, even though research and ethics committee recommendations suggest otherwise.
Dr. Shabnam Pourhassani, DACM, LAc specializes in providing alternatives to these patients which may lead to a biological child, or the ability to carry their own child without paying $70,000 for a surrogate.
Each couple is unique, and recommendations are tailored to the individual’s circumstances based on evidence, infertility diagnosis, and medical history.
The reproductive acupuncturist: Dr. Pourhassani protocols are proprietary and based on years of research and development.
She only accepts patients she may be able to help.
Step 5
Will be discussed with the couple.
At least a 3-month investment before IVF is required to work with Dr. Pourhassani, DACM, LAc.
Instead of trusting the internet for advice about infertility and acupuncture, make an appointment to receive advice.
I do not specialize in cancer related infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, or donor cycles (I do not have adequate education to do so).
Please beware that the internet doesn’t give advice, the human being who is taking care of you will give you advice & protect your wellbeing with outcomes in mind.
I no longer work within IVF centers because too many of those patients just want to ‘try acupuncture’, do not respect that acupuncture is scientifically valid, and do not respect us as doctors thus they do not follow the prescribed treatment and fail to obtain results. I also am not accustomed to observing so many failures. Nor, keeping the outcomes of reproductive acupuncturists hidden by medical doctors (reversed PCOS, etc).
